Remote Work Guide
The Dream of Remote Freedom
I’ve dreamt about becoming a remote worker since the very start of my career. For over five years, I worked remotely, traveling across countries and building my life on my own terms. In the beginning, remote work felt like the ultimate freedom—no commutes, no office politics, and the flexibility to be anywhere I wanted.
The Hidden Struggles Behind the Freedom
Over time, I realized that remote work isn’t always as glamorous as it looks. It can be isolating, stressful, and surprisingly disorganised. I spent countless hours searching for coworking spaces or cafés with decent Wi-Fi, only to feel lonely and drained by the constant uncertainty. The emotional toll of not having a reliable place to focus was real, especially while traveling. If you’ve ever spent hours on Google Maps or Facebook groups, you know the feeling. That’s why we started curating spaces like Campus Mapa Office and Café Estar Bogotá, so you can skip the research and book instantly.
The Moment That Changed Everything
In Beijing, I visited a remote-friendly café that turned out to be empty, while the Starbucks nearby was overcrowded. A few weeks later in Osaka, I was balancing my laptop on my knees in a noisy café with bad Wi-Fi and terrible coffee. I started talking to other remote workers, and realized we were all struggling with the same problems—wasted time, unpredictable environments, and isolation.
